Doesn't this mug just scream, "Hot Cocoa, Please."
As the nights get chillier with the approaching Fall season we find ourselves gravitating towards warm colors and warm beverages.
If you can picture yourself sitting around the table with friends and family serving hot beverages from these lustrous mugs come Fall, maybe while playing Scrabble, I've made four of these beauties available in my Etsy Shop.

This is the third
watercolor in a series of 3 paintings all celebrating lace doilies. Growing up lace doilies were just a part of life. My Grandmas and Aunts all had them on their fine wood tables under a favorite china piece or vase of flowers. Many crocheted and gave them as gifts. All three watercolor paintings will be listed in my Etsy Shop soon, framed and ready to hang.
Pink Teacup on Lace Doily was the first painting, and the second painting is Floral Teacup on Lace Doily.
I have an idea for a fourth painting but that will come later. I've just started painting a 2010 calendar for myself just for fun. January's page is almost done and I'll 'Show and Tell' that project next.
Yesterday was a bitter sweet day for me. I said good by to my beloved '49 Chevy Truck, with a teary eye, but said hello to my new '47 Ford Sedan.
The couple who owned this Ford Sedan was selling it to buy a late 40's truck.
I was selling my truck to buy a late 40's Sedan, so we traded. I loved the truck, but the kids want to ride along with us & I'll love spending time with them more.
I love its green wheels, suicide doors, black and white
interior, huge steering wheel, and classic details.
We've already been asked to shofer the bride & groom in a friends wedding. It's funny to think the green wheels I photographed for fun last year I drove around town in today.
I know, most women don't "Show & Tell" their cars, but I love old cars. They are like moving works of art from designers who are no longer creating them. It was a blessing my favorite Christian music artist, Evan Wickham, enjoyed Twitting about his picture in the driver seat.

I've been wanting to challenge myself by painting an embroidered doily. I love painting negative space and by letting the white of the paper be the doily, I just painted the holes. I couldn't resist adding a pink teacup just peaking in, as though it's waiting to be filled with a relaxing cup of tea.
First in a series of 3 originals I'm planning to sell in my etsy shop when all 3 are finished. This will be the first time I've sold original watercolor paintings.

I heard it's hard for some, who have received one of my Teacup greeting cards, to remove the teabag for fear of ruining the card. Here's a solution: Gently tear the bottom edge of the teabag wrapper and slip the teabag out, leaving the wrapper still in the card, and prepare to enjoy a yummy cup of tea.
Japanese Sencha is a light earthy tea that I enjoy with a little honey.
Last night I found this vintage cross stitch at The Grab Bag Antique Store while at Escondido's Friday Night Criusin' Grand. I'll leave you with this photo of what was parked out front. Isn't she sweet?
I found this Teacup and Saucer at a Vintage Glass sale and propped it up on the matching mini serving dish my mom gave me. I love how the glass pearl edges capture and reflect the color of the pink Raspberry Vanilla tea.

I love how this vintage Valentine card I found at Tparty Antiques was already signed "Guess?" I just left it and gave it to my husband this way.
It's tradition that I always set a Valentine's Table the night before to surprise the family when they wake up. Yes, I let the kids eat candy with their breakfast, but just on Valentine's Day. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to all my blogging buddies!
Katie, my friend's 18 year old daughter was asked, "What would you do if your boyfriend gave you red roses?" Katie's reply impressed me. She answered, "Then HE wouldn't be my boyfriend. If he WERE my boyfriend he would know I only love pink."
I'm
feeling a bit pink myself. With the help of a few vintage treasures I found in my favorite Etsy Shop, JensCloset (the Queen of Vintage), and the Camellias blooming this
time of year, the red of Christmas faded to a soft pink.
I did a dangerous thing last Sunday. I went shopping on Etsy, specifically JensCloset. It didn't occur to me to look at her profile to see if she sold her cool vintage wares, I just assumed she was an avid collector and I was jealous each time I viewed her photos.
I first saw this adorable pink vase in JensCloset Flickr photostream and pined over it.
These cute white flowers, pink bow and gold accents make this vase a timeless piece of art.

O.K. I'm a gear-girl at heart. I love old cars.
Reflected in the shiny paint job of this lowered 1936 Custom is me taking it's picture with a traffic controller telling me to get out of the way of an on-coming car.
So that's where the music has been coming from that I keep hearing at 2 a.m. Reaching in the cupboard for a milk glass bowl, I discovered two drummers, a flutist, a Scotsman playing the bagpipes with remnants of Christmas past.
I didn't want to go Estate Sale shopping this morning. A huge pile of laundry in front of the washer has been growing larger all week. Relieved there weren't any sales close by for Steve to drag me away from my neglected duty, he asked me to search the next city over. A picture on CraigsList convinced me the laundry would still be waiting for me when I returned.
I came home with three ruffled Hobnail vases,
a milk glass cream and sugar set on a tray,
a pretty embroidered tea towel and
a delightful three-tiered squirrel shelf that Steve picked out which mimics the design on the back of my new "Woodland Holiday" Teacup Greeting card I just finished producing. I'm blessed one of us likes to shop.
Hobnail milkglass is so cool it gives me goosebumps. If is has ruffles, well, now I have chills. I love it! The simplicity of its color, its texture that casts shadows that smile, makes it a classic that goes with any setting.
Half of my collection is from my dad's side of the family.
I use all my pieces. The banana holder and tiny cups, that hold salt an pepper for cooking, are staples in the kitchen.
This is a portion of my entire obsession. I probably have enough now, maybe.
I was so thrilled I went back to a collector's sale the second day. I found this 8"x10" G. Whitman oil painting, dusty and piled on top of a .50 cent table. I love the cool colors. I've recently learned he was a California artist who mainly painted landscapes. It will make a nice studio addition.
One of the places Steve and I like to visit while out at "Cruisin' Grand" in Escondido is Grab Bag Antiques. They have the largest selection of vintage post cards and greeting cards I have ever seen. They are categorized in notebooks: birthday, get well, Christmas, states, children, comic, etc. We found cards as old as 1896 through the late 1960s. Steve and I spent all evening at the little table and chairs they have set up for browsing the 1000s of new cards she just got in.
I brought home these cards and the pink plate .

My favorite thing to collect is milkglass hobnail. I especially love it with ruffled edges at the top. Pop calls it milkglass with goosebumps. This fan vase was his moms. I found the lamp at a garage sale and decided to use it as my new desk lamp .
