Fall Give Away

Happy 1st day of Autumn Everyone! Tis the Season to give thanks for the trees changing colors, bulb planting, good friends, warm tea, home made soup, cozy blankets, a fire in the fire place, spectacular sunsets, and hot cocoa.

Blue Willow Teapot on Lace Doily

8" x 10" Watercolor on 140 lb Hot Press paper.
This is the third watercolor in a series of 3 paintings all celebrating lace doilies.  Growing up lace doilies were just a part of life. My Grandmas and Aunts all had them on their fine wood tables under a favorite china piece or vase of flowers. Many crocheted and gave them as gifts. All three watercolor paintings will be listed in my Etsy Shop soon, framed and ready to hang.  

Pink Teacup on Lace Doily was the first painting, and the second painting is Floral Teacup on Lace Doily.

I have an idea for a fourth painting but that will come later. I've just started painting a 2010 calendar for myself just for fun. January's page is almost done and I'll 'Show and Tell' that project next.

Tea an' Tiques Tea Shop

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills is the quaintest tree-lined town of Murphys, appropriately called "Queen of the Sierra." 

 

In the middle of town is the adorable Tea an' Tiques shop, and of course I had to go in. Want a peek inside?

As soon as I stepped in, Darcy, the owner graciously invited me to help myself to cup of tea at her tea tasting counter, with a charming cottage garden just a few steps away to relax in and enjoy a cup of tea.

Back inside are beautiful teacups and teapots, tea, scone mixes and goodies for planning a perfect tea party. She also carries lovely antiques, framed art, books, gifts and collectibles.

 

 

 

It was really fun seeing my cards there, too, since I don't get many opportunities to see them displayed in stores. Oh yea, want to see what I went home with?

 

This White Jasmine Sparkling Tea is incredibly delicious!!!  I also found a matching spoon to the Franz butterfly teacup my aunt surprised me with.

August 2009 SALE

For this month's SALE I selected 12 cards with Teapots on them. I figured if everyone's Summer is as full as mine, we all could use a little more than a cup to get through.  Many of the teas in this month's SALE selection also taste yummy iced.

Silver Tea Set

Silver is so hard to photograph.  No mater where you stand, sit or kneel, you are always reflected in its image.  In fact the whole room is reflected.

The stripes in the reflections are from my black shelving with white boxes of greeting cards ready for pick-up or delivery.  I was able to hide behind the Creamer's spout on the Teapot, but the Sugar Bowl and Creamer are trying to rat-me-out hiding behind my black camera and aqua sweater.

I've made this pretty vintage Tea Set available in my Etsy Shop. It was made by “Sheridan Taunton Silversmiths, LTD” which I’ve just learned is a division of Lenox, Inc.   SOLD, Thank You!

Sneak Peek

Creating is always fun, Especially when it's pink!

Sweet Vintage Teacups and Teapots

A few treasures from my many voyages just around town over the years.  Sounds adventurous, uh?

Actually, for this homebody, scavenging through estate sales means brushing my hair and putting on shoes, or in today's weather finding my down jacket. 

Once I'm there, of coarse, it's hard to leave for all the decisions there are to make about which vintage finds to claim and which ones to leave behind. 
 
Over the years I've claimed a few too many.  A tea pot here, and a couple of teacups there.  Before you know it, your cupboards brimming with too many wonderful things to enjoy them all.

So I selected a few vintage goodies I had planned to use as models in my paintings, and added them in my new Etsy shop called "KimberlysTeaCottage."

Now instead of trying to decide what to claim and what to leave behind in other peoples "estates," I'm making those decisions at home...and you'll never know if I brushed my hair, or not.

Aqua Teapot Blessing, passed on to you...

It was a blessing receiving a flickr message from one2c900d which read, "This photo is especially for you..."  When I clicked on the link, this gorgeous teapot, in my favorite color, adorned in lovely gold leaves, filled my screen.  I was overwhelmed and deeply touched by her very sweet thought of me.  It's by Arthurwood pottery, England. She purchased it from a Goodwill store for only $8. While I can't believe someone let it go, I'm glad she found it, got a great deal, and then encouraged me with a picture of it.

one2c900d's photgraphy is lovely, covering a wide range of subjects from intricate details to grand architecural perspectives.  Her Chicago photos are spectacular. She also has a very creative set called "Squared Circles."

I couldn't conclude without pointing you to her Detroit Airport photos, especially 2 stunning videos: Changing colors in the tunnel and Detroit Airport pool.

Her picture massage was timely. It reminded me of Paul's letter to the Thessalonians which says, "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11
